No Footnote to “All”

Paul says Christ is preeminent "in everything." Not most things — everything. Yet if we're honest, we quietly add footnotes: preeminent, except my politics, except my need to be right, except my old wounds. There is no asterisk in the text. All means all. So today, ask yourself plainly: what have I placed beside Jesus on the throne? He is the one who spoke the universe into being, who knelt with a towel to wash feet, who conquered death itself. Nothing rivals him — nothing deserves to. Let today be a small, honest surrender of one more footnote, so he alone remains preeminent.
