Room Made for Us

In Genesis 26, Isaac names three wells that tell a story of conflict, tension, and ultimately grace. Esek means “contention,” and Sitnah means “enmity”—words that reflect seasons of struggle and threat. But then comes Rehoboth, meaning “broad place” or “room.” Isaac declares, “The LORD has made room for us.”

Perhaps you are longing for your own Rehoboth—a place of relief amid conflict, pressure, or uncertainty. Notice, however, that Rehoboth did not erase Esek and Sitnah. God provided room to breathe in the midst of difficulty. Sometimes his grace does not remove the tension; it sustains us within it.
