Regarding Immigrants in America

Reasonable laws around immigration make sense—it’s natural for nations to establish such boundaries. But may we apply those laws consistently, humanely, and justly.

We who revere Jesus—the One who, as a child, fled a murderous regime and found sanctuary in Egypt—must take seriously the clear biblical mandate:

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:34)

Moreover, Jesus himself says:

“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” (Matthew 25:35)

Welcoming the immigrant, is welcoming Jesus. May we rise to it!
