A Lesson on a Lake

Life is not about us—it’s about Jesus and His mission. In Mark 6, after feeding the masses, Jesus resists the temptation of being made king and withdraws to pray, affirming the Father’s will and greatness. Meanwhile, the disciples, caught in a storm on Lake Gennesaret, otherwise known as the Sea of Galilee, reveal their self-absorption and misunderstand Jesus’ true purpose. Jesus walks to them on the water, revealing Himself as God. He calms the storm and confronts their hardened hearts. Like the disciples, we too forget our place, pursuing our own grandeur. But Jesus lovingly redirects us, reminding us who He is—and who we are not.
