When I’m Worked Up

“I do not occupy myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul” (Psalm 131:1-2).

When I am worked up, unsettled, the world around me is spinning, anxious, as are all around me. When I desire to be the "adult in the room," above the fray, not part of the problem but part of the solution, I choose to not go along. It doesn't mean I'm unaware, just not owned or consumed. Rather: level-headed, calm, quiet, placing my confidence in the Lord Jesus who gives me "rest" for my soul (Matthew 11:28).
