In the City of Kings
The setting matters.
Caesarea Philippi was no ordinary place. Named for Caesar and Philip, filled with shrines to Pan, it was a city where kings were honored, priests were busy, and spiritual confusion ran deep. Power, religion, and chaos all converged.
And it was there—of all places—that Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say that I am?”
Surrounded by competing voices and claims, Peter answered simply: “You are the Christ.”
Not one voice among many—but the voice. Not one authority among others—but the authority.
In a world crowded with lesser kings, Jesus stands alone.
The question still lingers: who do you say He is?
