Establishing One’s Call

David was anointed king of Judah after Saul’s death, yet it took seven and a half years—and much political strife and warfare—before he ruled all Israel. Though chosen by God, his path to kingship was long and costly. The early chapters of 2 Samuel reveal a slow, painful unfolding of God’s plan. Likewise, stepping into one’s calling often involves setbacks, losses, and waiting, as puzzle pieces slowly fall into place. David’s story offers a model of resilience and faith. May we follow his example, that our leadership might likewise bring joy and peace to those we serve (2 Samuel 3:36).
